I’ve been working out at home for a few years now, and I’ve learned a lot about how to stay motivated when working out on my own.
In this post, I’m going to share with you the things that have helped me stay motivated, and how you can apply them to your own workout routine. I’m also going to give you some tips on how to make sure that you don’t get bored with your workout routine, so that you can stick with it for the long-haul. Let’s get started!
Set Goals
The first thing that you need to do when you’re starting a new workout routine is to set goals for yourself. You need to know what you want to get out of your workout, and why you’re doing it in the first place. For example, if you’re trying to lose weight, you might want to set a goal of losing 10 pounds by the end of the year. If you’re looking to get stronger, you may want to aim for a certain amount of weight that you’d like to be able to lift, or a certain number of repetitions that you would like to complete in a set amount of time. Whatever your goals are, make sure to write them down somewhere that you’ll see them every day. This way, you’ll be reminded of your goals every time that you look at them, and you’ll have something to look forward to when you get home from work. It’s also a good idea to write your goals down on a piece of paper, and put it in a place where you can see it every day, like on your bathroom mirror, or on the mirror in your workout room. This will help you stay focused on your goals, and remind you of what you’re working for every time you look in the mirror.
STAY MOTIVATED
If you’re having a hard time staying motivated when you work out on your own, try writing down your goals in a journal. This is a great way to keep track of your progress, and it will keep you motivated to continue working out, even when you aren’t feeling like it. You can also use a journal to write down your thoughts and feelings about your workout. This can be a good way to get in touch with your emotions, and help you understand why you feel the way that you do about working out. It can also help you figure out what’s going on in your life that might be affecting your motivation to work out.
Keep a Workout Journal
One of the best ways to keep yourself motivated is to keep a workout journal. A workout journal is a journal that you use to track your workouts, and keep a record of all of the workouts that you’ve completed. This journal can be anything that you want it to be. It could be a simple notebook that you write your workouts in, or it could be something more elaborate, like an online journal. Whatever type of journal you decide to use, the important thing is that it’s something that you’re going to use every day to track all of your workouts. This helps you stay motivated because you can look back at your workouts and see how much you’ve improved over time. It also gives you something to work towards, because you know that you have to keep improving in order to get to the next level in your fitness journey. You’ll also be motivated to keep working out because you’ll want to see how far you’ve come, and what you’ve been able to accomplish with your workouts over the past few months, or even the past year. This gives you a sense of pride, and makes you feel like you’re accomplishing something, which is something that we all need in our lives. When you keep a journal, you can also write down any thoughts or feelings that you might have about your workouts as you go through them, which can help you to understand yourself better, and figure out why you might not be feeling as motivated as you could be. If this sounds like something that would be helpful to you, I highly recommend that you get yourself a journal and start using it to track how you’re feeling about your fitness routine. You might be surprised at what you find out about yourself when you start keeping a journal like this. I know that I was, and that’s why I started keeping one.
MOTIVATE YOURSELF
You might be feeling a little unmotivated when it comes to working out right now. If that’s the case, you’re not alone. I’ve been there, too. The good news is that there are a lot of things that we can do to help us stay motivated. One of the first things that you should do is to take a look at your goals. If your goals aren’t realistic, or if you haven’t set any goals at all, it’s going to be a lot harder for you to stick with your routine, and to get the results that you really want. Make sure that your goals make sense for you, and for your lifestyle. If they don’t make sense, then you’re probably not going to have much success with them, so it might be time to start over and set some new goals. Once you’ve set some goals, the next step is to start writing them down. Write them down in your journal, or anywhere else that you will see them on a daily basis. You want to make it as easy as possible for yourself to see your goals and to remind yourself of them every single day. The more often that you see your goal, the more likely that you are to accomplish it. The last thing that you need to do when you’re setting your goals is to make sure that they’re realistic. You don’t want your goals to be so far out of reach that you can’t even think about accomplishing them, because then you’ll just be setting yourself up for failure. Instead, your goals should be attainable, and realistic, so that you won’t be disappointed when you don’t reach them.
GOAL SETTING TIPS
SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-bound. This means that your goal has to be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound, in that order. If it’s not specific enough, then it will be hard to measure whether or not you’ve accomplished it, and if it’s too vague, then there’s no way to tell if you’re on the right track or not. If you’re trying to lose weight, for example, your goal should be something like “I want to lose 10 pounds by the end of the month.” This goal is specific, because it tells you exactly what you want to accomplish. It’s also measurable, because if you weigh yourself every day, you’ll be able to see exactly how much weight you’re losing, and you’ll know when you’ve reached your goal. Your goal should also be achievable, which means that it shouldn’t be something that’s too difficult for you. It should be a goal that you know you can accomplish, and one that you think you can reach in a reasonable amount of time. Finally, it should be relevant to your life, and something that will make you feel good about yourself. If all of these criteria are met, then your goal will be a success. If any of them aren’t met, you might want to re-evaluate your goal and see if you can make it more specific, more measurable, more achievable, more relevant, or more time-bounded. You can also make your goal more specific by breaking it down into smaller goals. For example, if your goal is to lose 20 pounds, your first goal might be to lose 5 pounds, and your second goal could be to maintain that weight loss for a month, and so on. This will help you stay on track, and it will make it easier for you if you decide to go back to your goal after you’ve lost some of the weight that you wanted to lose in the first place.
WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT?
If you’re looking to lose some weight, I have a few tips for you that might help you along the way. First of all, don’t be afraid to eat a little more than you’re used to eating. It might be a little uncomfortable at first, but once you get used to it, it won’t seem like such a big deal anymore. Also, try to eat at least three meals a day, and don’t skip breakfast. Skipping breakfast is a bad idea, because you’re going to feel tired and sluggish throughout the day if you skip it. Another thing to keep in mind is that it’s important to drink plenty of water. You should drink at least half of your body weight in ounces of water every day. This is going to help keep you hydrated, and will also help to flush out any toxins that might be building up in your body. If these tips don’t help you, then maybe it’s time to talk to your doctor about your weight loss goals. He or she might have some other suggestions for you as well.
STAY MOTIVATED
One of the most important things to remember about working out is that you have to stay motivated all of the time. It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve been to the gym, or how much you’ve worked out in the past, if you stop working out for a few days, or even a few weeks, your results are going to start to fade away.
